Have you been wondering what all the hype is about? Are you scared to try something new and look silly? When I talk to someone who’s never tried an escape room before, one thing I hear a lot is “I’ll never get out!” Or “I’m not smart enough!”. Not to worry, friends! Escape Rooms are about a whole lot more than just judging your intelligence in the most stressful way possible. The best escape rooms out there are just trying to tell a story in the most engaging way they know, and their number one concern is that you have fun! If you’ve never tried an escape room before, give it a try! Here are my top 5 reasons to try an escape room:
- It’s like walking into a book come to life- or becoming the main character in your favorite movie! The sets are built to immerse you in the story.
- It’s a great way to bond with your friends and family. Escape rooms encourage team work in a way that you may have never experienced before!
- It inspires you and your team to think outside of the box and practice those problem-solving skills! Escape rooms are chock full of every kind of puzzle imaginable!
- It may highlight a skill or talent that you didn’t know you had! Or that you didn’t know your friends/family had.
- It’s so much fun! Escape rooms are adventures that you may never get to experience in real-life and they are exhilarating!
And now, some bonus tips to make your first time in an escape room as amazing as possible:
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Your game masters are there for YOU! There is absolutely no shame in asking for a tip or hint.
- Listen to EVERYONE! Many puzzles take looking at it from a different angle, and you never know who will see that angle most clearly. Our very first escape room experience our son (who was 3 at the time) found the first key in the room- and we almost yelled at him for breaking the set! We learned immediately that our kids were always a great resource for looking at things from a new perspective.
- Communicate with the group constantly. You never know when the random item you’ve been carrying around for the last 15 minutes could be the key to solving the puzzle your team has been working on across the room.
So there you have it! There are so many reasons to give your first escape room a try!
